The International Historical Commission in Lithuania will organize commemorative events with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania marking the 25th anniversary of bilateral relations between Japan and Lithuania. The International Historical Commission has initiated an educational project for Lithuanian schools: “Who was Chiune Sugihara?” This project commemorates the 75th anniversary of the “Visas for Life”, which were issued by Mr. Chiune Sugihara, a vice consul of the Japanese Consulate in Kaunas. The project’s final event will consist of presentations given by some of the students that have participated in the project.

On the same day, the Embassy of Japan and Centre for Asian Studies of Vytautas Magnus University will organize a one-man performance about Mr. Chiune Sugihara. The piece will be performed by Mr. Shingo Misawa who will be travelling from Japan in order to produce the piece.
